Darkest dungeon ost ruin battle3/2/2024 The fanfare that plays next is used widely throughout the game, with parts of it being heard when Link uses a Sky Tower to launch to greater heights. With a quotation of the Breath of the Wild main theme from the flutes to remind us that this is a sequel, the music hits a pretty big crescendo, and then we get our main theme. If you hadn’t guessed it already, this is a musical characterization of the Demon King Ganondorf. The minor tonality, as well as the sporadic rhythms of this part suggest something sinister and creepy. The beginning of this theme is set up by an eerie reversed vocal sound. In this series of editorials, I’d like to analyze every main theme from the franchise and take a deep dive into the storytelling ability of the composers. From the nautical nature of The Wind Waker ’s title theme, to the airy quality of Skyward Sword ’s “Ballad of the Goddess,” this franchise’s theme songs are works of musical genius that tell the story of the game, without spoiling anything at all. In addition to the OG Zelda theme, every game since the original has had its own titular main theme song that encapsulates what exactly that game is about, and what kind of adventure you’re about to embark on.
